 Frenetik SPK3 Troubleshooting

The Frenetik SPK3 is a PoE+ Dante audio appliance. The SPK3 is powered by PoE+ and can receive and decode audio sent in the Dante protocol. It utilizes an onboard amplifier and loudspeaker transducers to generate acoustic energy which can be heard by a person with normal hearing..

SYMPTOM - No Audio from Frenetik SPK3

Troubleshooting process

Remotely check if SPK 3 is present on the network and that you can talk to it and configure it

  1. Is SPK3 present in Dante Controller? If yes then SPK3 is functional and can receive audio. If SPK3 is present in Dante Controller and audio is not present at the physical SPK3 then there is an issue with the audio stream.

  2. Troubleshoot audio stream.

On-site check of SPK 3 functionality

There are three possible causes of no audio from a SPK3

No power - The SPK3 is powered off

No network - The SPK3 is powered on but cannot receive the audio stream

No audio  - The SPK3 is powered on, can/is receiving the audio stream and does not produce audio

1. No power

Is the yellow Activity LED illuminated?

If not then the SPK3 is not receiving power via PoE+. Remove the ethernet cable plugged into the SPK3 and check that PoE+ is present. If not then troubleshoot the PoE+ delivery system to ensure it is functioning correctly before proceeding with any other SPK3 troubleshooting.

If yes then the SPK3 is receiving power. Proceed to the next step.

2. No network

Is the green link LED illuminated (blinking)?

If not then the SPK3 is not receiving data from the network. Remove the ethernet cable plugged into the SPK3 and check that network data is present. If not then troubleshoot the network system to ensure it is functioning correctly before proceeding with any other SPK3 troubleshooting.

If yes then the SPK3 is receiving data over the network. Proceed to the next step.

3. No audio

If both the yellow activity LED and green data LED’s are illuminated then the no audio fault is due to a failure of the amplifier or transducers. Please replace the SPK3 unit.

If there is still no sound, the audio stream may be the problem (incorrect routing, stream muted, no audio program being broadcast).
